Welcome to my blog. I hope you get some inspiration to run somewhere new from my log of Ultra Running Destinations. These are all places I’ve visited, so can personally recommend them for an ultra adventure. Hope you have a nice stay!
Trail running in Europe is the best way to experience nature’s diversity throughout the continent
The Hounslow Classic ultramarathon, held in the Blue Mountains of Australia, is widely regarded as one of the best ultramarathons in the world. The race, which is 68k with a total elevation gain of 4800m and a 17 hour cutoff, offers runners a truly unique and challenging experience. The Blue Mountains are known for their stunning natural beauty and diverse terrain, with waterfalls, overhangs, dirt roads, and dense forests all making an appearance on the course. In addition, the Blue Mountains are a more lush and varied version of the Grand Canyon in the United States, making them a truly special location for an ultramarathon. The Hounslow Classic also attracts a high caliber of runners, with many participants having summited Everest or completed other impressive feats. All of these factors combine to make the Hounslow Classic ultramarathon one of the best in the world.
As an experienced runner who has logged over a 1,000 miles per year, including 100,000 feet of elevation gain, for many years, I consider the Brooks Cascadia the best Brooks running shoe. They are amazing for trails and work equally well on the road, with features like excellent foot protection, deep tread, and strong support. They also come in two versions! The GTX being made of Gore Tex that’ll keep your feet warm and dry feet in the winter.
As an experienced ultramarathon runner with over 100 races under my belt, I highly recommend the Another Damn 50k in Englewood, Ohio for beginner ultramarathoners. This race is a manageable distance for first-timers, and it's located in the Buckeye State, making it an easily accessible race for those living in Ohio. If you're not located in Ohio, or if the Another Damn 50k doesn't appeal to you, there are plenty of other options out there.
